The Albano Ballet Company, incorporated in 1974 as a 1 ( c) Hartford-based professional dance company, was founded by and remains under the direction of by Joseph Albano. The company is governed by a board of directors and advised by an active Friend of the Albano Ballet group.A native of New London, Connecticut, Mr. Albano spent the early years of his dance career with the legendary Ballets Russe de Monte Carlo and the Martha Graham Company. In 1960 he founded the Hartford Ballet, where he served as Artistic Director for twelve years. From its founding in 1974, the Albano Ballet Company of America has been faithful to its mission “To stimulate and increase public understanding, appreciation, support and interest in the art of ballet and to promote dance as a tool for learning.” We steadfastly have focused on our goal of growing public interest in classical ballet and fostering youth development and learning through dance. The Albano Ballet Company continues to perform annually in Connecticut with Summer, Spring and Nutcracker seasons. The company also maintians yearly guestings and performances in Europe.
